An impotent man – verdict

I am sharing an important issue as an eye opener for men and women

What to do in case a woman is infertile or a man is infertile [low motility?

Very often, Muslims themselves have created chaos and confusion in the society by mixing culture, traditions of their respective countries to Islam

They have encouraged men to divorce their wives or to seek another wife in case a woman could not conceive of a baby. Can you imagine the threat this causes upon the psychology of a woman, when you reject her, when you debase her, when she needs you and you take her as an object?

Isn’t Allah full of compassion, love and mercy for you? Has not the prophet [peace and blessings be upon you] showed you how to live respectfully and lovingly towards your wife?

“Well, have you considered the fact that you, as a man, you cannot have children and your wife nags you, hurts your feelings everyday and hates you or leaves you and goes to another man? Think about it a hundred times over before you criticize women”

Well, I will not be able to provide the whole man’s question: in brief he says that he tested his semen and it had no motality.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is not permissible for a wife to describe her husband with a description that displeases him in order to humiliate him and despise him even if this description is real. Indeed, the matter of having children or being sterile is predestined by Allaah and the people have nothing to do with it; Allaah Says (what means): {To Allaah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children] and He gives to whom He wills males. Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.}[Quran 42:49-50]

Hence, such a treatment from a wife to her husband is contradictory to his rights on her and it is considered as disobedience and misconduct on her part towards him; so the husband has the right to discipline her according to the Sharee’ah as we clarified in Fataawa 85402 and 84120.
It should be noted that a wife should be patient with her husband and help him treat himself (medically) instead of criticizing him for him being infertile. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 88807.

We advise both the husband and wife to do whatever leads to the stability of the family and maintain the spirit of harmony and love between them as these are the most important objectives of marriage.

Allaah Says (what means): {And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.} [Quran 30:21]

Also, among the matters that help achieve this objective is that both spouses fulfill the rights of the other. For more benefit on the rights of the spouses towards each other, please refer to Fatwa 85308 and 83157.

Allaah Knows best”

Now the problem lies with a known hadith reported by Abu Daoud, and Muslims are taking a hadith ABOVE THE VERSES OF THE QURAN

Muslims should know that the Quran has full authority over a hadith

Muslims should not take a hadith above Allah’s words

Muslims should know how and in which context to use a hadith

Muslims should not take a recommendation as an act of Fard [obligatory act]

Muslims should not burden women unnecessarily

Muslims should not take it an offence if their wives, daughters cannot have children

Muslim women should not always think that if they do not have children, it is their responsibilities, it may be the husband’s semen do not have any motility

Whenever you  hear a hadith, confront it with the Quran. If it contradicts the Quran, then it is rejected. A hadith must also be taken in its right context

do not frustrate yourself, your family, your son and daughter unnecessarily.

Know that the prophet [peace be upon him] came to spread Tawheed, the unity of Allah and not to burden people

Allah knows best
