Muslims’ drink – the coffee story

Well, who would have guessed?

Coffee was discovered by Muslims and much loved by Muslims since generations.

We don’t know exactly when coffee was discovered as a drink. Before that, coffee beans were just eaten.

According to Wikipedia, The history of coffee goes at least as far back as the 13th century, with a number of reports and legends surrounding its first use. The native (undomesticated) origin of coffee is thought to have been in East Africa, specifically from Ethiopia. It may have been first cultivated by Arabs in the 14th century, but[1] the earliest substantiated evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree appears to have been in the middle of the 15th century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen.[2] By the 16th century, it had reached the rest of the Middle East, Persia, Turkey and northern Africa. Coffee then spread to the Balkans, Italy and to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia and then to America.[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_coffee]

coffee

It is believed that it was discovered in Ethiopia then brought to Yemen and first CULTIVATED there.

The first coffeehouse was in Mecca – later coffeehouse popularity travelled outside of the Arabian peninsula to Cairo (near Al-Azhar), then Damascus, then Istanbul.
coffee is called kawe in many countries(from arabic word: qahwa).

The conspiracy theory of this modern life

among the conspiracies of this end times, are:

1. Water
2. Food
3. Clothing
4. Money

Let’s talk about aspartame
Aspartame is a silent killer. You’ll find aspartame in soda, gum, yogurt, and many many more items. Aspartame is addictive and deadly to the brain.

Example: Many people after quitting soda had their migraines went away…
Those who use this regularly have digestion issues and aspartame can increase your risk for Alzheimer.

Lisa writes this: “It is the biggest reason why a lot of diabetics are on dialysis it breaks the kidneys down causes cramping in hands and feet causes muscle spasms and so much more if at all possible find aspartame free foods and refreshments, if u wanna live and not be crippled!”

One question: why do you think there are so many strange illnesses and pains nowadays?

Solution to remove toxicity from your body:

add a couple drops of lemon essential oil to a glass of water and make lemonade … It will even clear the toxicity from your system …however, you should stop using plastic glass too

The story of Sodom in the Qur’an concerns our modern society

-Story of the prophet Lut

-The Life and Times of Sodom.

– Dead sea.

– Lot/Lut and the Destruction of Sodom – Bible & Qur’an.

The people of Lut (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. Chapter of {The Poets}.

When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: “Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? Chapter of {The Poets}.

“Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. Chapter of {The Poets}.

“So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. Chapter of {The Poets}.

“No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). Chapter of {The Poets}.

“Go you in unto the males of the ‘Alamin (mankind), Chapter of {The Poets}.

“And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!” Chapter of {The Poets}.

They said: “If you cease not. O Lout (Lot)! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!” Chapter of {The Poets}.

He said: “I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). Chapter of {The Poets}.

“My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do.” Chapter of {The Poets}.

So We saved him and his family, all, Chapter of {The Poets}.

Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. Chapter of {The Poets}.

Then afterward We destroyed the others. Chapter of {The Poets}.

And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. Chapter of {The Poets}.

Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. Chapter of {The Poets}.

Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, Chapter of {The Moon}.

IN THE SHADOWS OF THE HOLY QUR’AN.

Lot/Lut and the Destruction of Sodom

In addition to good tidings about the birth of Isaac, the angels also had some bad tidings for Abraham. They came to warn him about the destruction of Sodom, a city notorious for its many crimes. The Biblical Abraham could not understand how God could allow the innocent to suffer with the guilty. He negotiated with God and was promised that the city would be saved if 10 righteous people could be found inside its walls.

The story continues with Abraham’s cousin Lot, a righteous man, who lived in the sinful city of Sodom. Just like other prophets, Lot attempted to warn his people of God’s punishments for a godless life. The people of Sodom refused to listen and threatened to drive him and his followers out of the city.

Lot was visited by the angels that Abraham had hosted. He also welcomed them to his house. At that moment, a crowd of angry men came to his door, demanding he hand over his male guests for their sexual pleasure. Lot refused to do so but instead offered his two daughters to the men. Lot was afraid of the men, but the angels reassured him that the mob would not triumph.

This incident is open to various interpretations. It is about the importance of hospitality: guests take priority over everything else, especially when they are angels. It is also regarded as a rejection of (mass) rape, regardless of the genders involved.
In Christian and Islamic circles, the story of Lot and the lustful mob has been interpreted as a rejection of homosexual relations, even if they involve two loving adults. In the Bible, this interpretation is supported by an explicit ban on homosexual relations in Leviticus 20:13 and a rejection by Paul of Greek/Roman habits. Jude explains the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as a punishment for unnatural sex. Whether this is the word of God, or the opinion of writers in a specific historical context, is undecided. However, Christians and Jews oppose now support capital punishment for homosexuals, as contradicting the concept of a loving God.

The story of Lot is the only context in which homosexuality is discussed in the Qur’an. In 7 The Heights, 80-81, the Prophet Lot describes men who are attracted to men instead of women as immoderate people. Except for this type of statement by the prophet Lot, – in the context of a threatening situation – the Qur’an contains no explicit ban on homosexuality, while other aspects of sexual relations are explicitly dealt with. This very vacuum inspires some Muslims to reach out to the Bible for guidance. Thus, the killing of homosexuals, which occasionally takes place in one or two countries, seems ultimately based on the Bible rather than on the Qur’an. In spite of the lack of clear guidance in the Qur’an, many Muslims feel that homosexuality goes against the natural destiny of men, to whom God has given wives. Therefore, they respect the choice of others but will not make such a choice themselves. On the other hand, homosexual Muslims maintain that homosexual love relations between equals are not condemned in the Qur’an.

Another question open to interpretation is the meaning behind Lot’s offer to give his daughters to the mob. The term ‘daughters’ is often interpreted figuratively in Islamic circles. Offering daughters in Arabic means offering in marriage, not for unmarried sex. Lot counsels the lewd men to return to the daughters of the people, in other words, to their own wives and to renounce sex with Lot’s male guests. But the men insist on sex with Lot’s male guests. The city is subsequently destroyed because of the idolatry and wrong-doings of its citizens, not, or at least not only, because of homosexuality.

Having been warned by angels, Lot escaped. But his wife hesitated. Genesis tells us she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. In the Qur’an, Lot’s wife remained behind in the sinful city. A comparison is made between the wives of Noah and Lot. Both are the wives of prophets, but in the end that does not save them. Ultimately, it is not ancestry or marrying into the right family that matters, but taking responsibility as an individual.

Ten righteous people?
Then the men (angels ed.)…looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.
And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing?…the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave…”
And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You…not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You… to slay the righteous with the wicked… Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
So the LORD said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”
And he spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose there should be forty found there?”
So He said, “I will not do it for the sake of forty.”
Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?”
And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”
Genesis 18:16-17, 20, 23-26, 29, 32

Men who lie with men
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying… If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Leviticus 20,13

Therefore, God also gave them (Greeks and
Jews ed.) up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves…
For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. (Letter of Paul to the) Romans 1:24-27
…Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:7

Angels arrive at Sodom
… the two angels came to Sodom in the evening… When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground. And he said, “Here now, my Lords, please turn in to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.”
…so they…entered his house. Then he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
Now before they lay down, the men of Sodom, both old and young… surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.”

So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him, and said, “Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly! See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.”
And they said, “Stand back! …They came near to break down the door. But the men (angels ed.) reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness…Genesis 19:1-11

Sodom destroyed
Then the men (angels ed.) said to Lot, “…we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it.”

When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.” And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he (the angel ed.) said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.”

Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah…So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

And Abraham…looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and… he saw… the smoke of the land which went up like the smoke of a furnace.

And it came to pass…that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.
Genesis 19: 12-13, 15-17, 24-29

Ibrahim’s plea
Tell them about the guests of Abraham. When they entered his presence and said: “Peace!” He said: “We feel afraid of you!”

They said: “We give you glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair!” He said: “And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?” Abraham said: “What then is the business on which you (have come), O you messengers (of Allah)?”

They said: “We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin.”
v 55-58

They said: “Fear not: we have been sent against the people of Lut.”
11 Hud, 70

Excepting the adherents of Lut: we are certainly (charged) to save them (from harm), – all – “except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind.”
v 59-60

When fear had passed from (the mind of) Abraham… he began to plead with Us for Lut’s people. For Abraham was, without doubt, forbearing (of faults), compassionate, and given to look to Allah. O Abraham! Do not seek this. The decree of your Lord has gone forth: for them there comes a Penalty that cannot be turned back!
11 Hud, 74-76

Lut warns his people
Behold, their brother Lut said to them: “Will you not fear (Allah)? I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust. So fear Allah and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. Of all the creatures in the world, will you approach males, and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, you are a people transgressing (all limits)!”

They said: “If you desist not, O Lut! you will assuredly be cast out!”
26 The Poets, 161-167

(We also sent) Lut (as a Messenger): behold, he said to his people: “Do you do what is shameful though you see (its iniquity)? Would you really approach men in your lusts rather than women?”
But his people gave no other answer but this: they said: “Drive out the followers of Lut from your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!”
27 The Ants, 54-56

Lut protects his guests
When Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and felt himself powerless (to protect) them.
He said: “This is a distressful day.”
And his people came rushing towards him, and they had been long in the habit of practising abominations. 11 The Prophet Hud, 77-78

We also (sent) Lut: he said to his people: “Do you commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For you practise your lusts on men in preference to women: you are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.” 7 The Heights, 80-81

He said: “O my people! Here are my daughters: they are purer for you (if you marry)! Now fear Allah, and do not cover me with shame about my guests! Isn’t there among you a single right-minded man?”
They said: “You know well we have no need of your daughters: indeed you know quite well what we want!”
He said: “Would that I had power to suppress you or that I could betake myself to some powerful support.”
(The angels ed.) said: “O Lut!
We are Messengers from your Lord!
By no means they shall reach you!”
11 The Prophet Hud, 78-81

Lut escapes destruction
(The Angels ed.) said: “O Lut! We are Messengers from your Lord!..Now travel with your family while yet a part of the night remains, and let not any of you look back: but your wife (will remain behind): to her will happen what happens to the people. Morning is their appointed time: Is not the morning near?”

When Our decree issued, We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay, spread layer on layer. 11 Hud, 81-82

And We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!7 The Heights, 84
But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who lagged behind. 7 The Heights, 83

Allah sets forth, for an example to the Unbelievers, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut: they were (respectively) under two of our righteous Servants, but they were false to their (husbands), and they profited nothing before Allah on their account, but were told: “You enter the Fire along with (others) that enter!” 66 Forbidden, 10

And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 21 The Prophets, 74-75
But We delivered him (Abraham ed.) and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations.
21 The Prophets, 71

God sent all the Prophets to their people with one message, to worship God alone and not to associate anything or anyone with Him. However, God sent Prophet Muhammad to all of humankind. Although his message was the same, he came with a new law, one to cover all people, in all places, at all times, even into a distant future continuing to the Day of Judgement. The revelation of different chapters of Quran was often in response to a particular event or experiences of the Prophet and his followers. The stories in the Quran teach lessons, provide the historical background of humankind, and demonstrate the nature of God. The story of Prophet Lot is one that is particularly pertinent in the 21st century.

In many cities across the world, it is unsafe to walk down the streets, even in daylight. Murder is rife, identities stolen, and drugs abound. Nowadays most children in high school have already encountered drug users and sellers. Alcohol is freely available at corner stores, even though it is responsible for the break up of families, domestic violence and the corrosion of society. Paedophilia is rampant, as is child pornography and human trafficking. Degenerate lifestyles are accepted and even thought of as normal. This description paints a picture of a scary, out of control world, but is it really so different from the time of Prophet Lot?

The people of Lot lived in a society very similar to our own. It was corrupt, the people had no shame, criminals and criminal activity abounded, and those passing through the town of Sodom risked robbery and physical abuse. The overall atmosphere of the town was not one of a cohesive society. The people of Lot were without morals, without standards and without shame. The homosexuality that abounded did not exist in a vacuum, it was part of a lifestyle that not only allowed, but also encouraged vice and corruption. It was to this town that God sent Prophet Lot; his message was to worship God alone. However, embedded in worship are the desire and the willingness to obey God’s commandments? The people of Sodom were content with their corrupt ways and had no desire to curb them. Lot became an annoyance and his words were ignored.

Prophet Lot called the people to give up their criminal activities and indecent behaviour but they refused to listen. Lot confronted his people and admonished them. He pointed out their corruption, their criminal activities and their unnatural sexual behaviour.

“Will you not fear God and obey Him? Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. So fear God and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message) my reward is only from the Lord of all that exists.” (Quran 26:161-164)

In the last 20 or 30 years, it has become common to talk of homosexuality as a natural way of life, however according to God’s law and in all three heavenly religions, (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) this is not acceptable. The new idea that homosexuality is somehow genetically determined is also rejected by Islam. Qur’an clearly states that the people of Sodom were the first to practice this sexual aberration.

“Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds [i.e., peoples]? Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people.”

The people of Sodom had reached such a level of degradation they no longer had any shame. They would commit their unnatural acts in public or in private. Satan was amongst them, and as is his way, he made their actions appear fair and wholesome. When Lot insisted they change their evil ways, they wanted to drive him out of town, as if by calling to purity, he was the one committing a great sin. The people of Sodom said to Lot, “If you cease not, O Lot! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!” (Qur’an 26:167) Lot openly expressed his anger and fury at the evil deeds and unnatural acts and called on God to save him and his family from the evil of the people of Sodom.

In another part of the world, Prophet Abraham, the uncle of Prophet Lot, received three guests. Known for his generosity, Prophet Abraham roasted a calf but to his dismay, the guests refused to eat. This was very unusual. Travellers are usually hungry and the fact that these guests refused his generosity made Prophet Abraham very uneasy. The guests saw his uneasiness and tried to put his fears to rest. They said, “Do not be afraid!” (Qur’an 15:53) His fears allayed, Prophet Abraham asked his guests what business had bought them to his town. They replied, “We have been sent to a people who are criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners”. (Qur’an 15:58)

The people of Sodom had become corrupt, believing their evil ways were acceptable. Unfortunately, in the 21st century we have become so accustomed to evil and ignorance we are no longer able to respond in the correct manner. We make excuses and try to justify evil behaviour but the fact is, when people continuously, and openly disrespect and disobey God we should be outraged. The angels took their leave from Prophet Abraham and made their way to the city of Sodom, in search of Prophet Lot and his family.

Prophet Lot continued to suffer due to the wicked ways and unnatural behaviour of the people around him, yet he patiently continued to deliver his message. He called the people to give up their wicked ways and obey the One God, worshipping Him alone. However, the townspeople continued to mock and belittle Lot, and even taunted him by challenging him to bring God’s torment upon them.

“Bring God’s torment upon us if you are one of the truthful.” (Quran 29:29)

Lot was overwhelmed with despair and beseeched God to grant him victory over these people, who committed great crimes and behaved unnaturally.

At the time of Lot’s invocation, the messengers (angels) were with Prophet Abraham so they informed him of their mission to Lot and his people. They said,

“And when Our messengers [i.e., angels] came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, “Indeed, we will destroy the people of that [i.e., Lot’s] city. Indeed, its people have been wrongdoers.” (Quran 29:31)

Abraham was afraid, his nephew Lot was in the town of Sodom and it was about to be destroyed. He said to the angels “but Lot is there!” They replied,

“We know better who is there, we will verily save him (Lot) and his family, except his wife, she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed).” (Quran 29: 32)

Renowned Islamic scholar, Imam Ibn Katheer narrates that, as the messengers approached the towns of Sodom they met Lot’s daughter at the nearby river. She was astounded at their beauty and feared for them. She advised them to wait at the river for Prophet Lot, rather than enter the town without his protection. When Lot heard of the strangers, he felt distressed and wondered how he could convince them to bypass the towns of Sodom and continue on their travels. He tried to make them understand the nature of the townspeople but only succeeded in convincing the messengers to wait for nightfall before entering the town.

Prophet Lot managed to escort the messengers to the safety of his home; however, Lot’s wife slipped out the back door and quickly told the people that two beautiful men were guests in Lot’s home. The word quickly spread and soon people were outside Lot’s house, knocking on his door, demanding to see the guests. Lot became even more distressed when he realised his wife was responsible for the crowd at his door and he pleaded with the mob to disband and to fear the punishment of God. He repeatedly appealed to them to seek sexual gratification in a lawful way.

“O my people! Here are my daughters (i.e. the daughters of my nation); they are purer for you (if you marry them lawfully). So fear God and degrade me not as regards my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?” (Qur’an 11:78)

The story of Lot, in both the Bible and the Qur’an hold remarkable similarities. However, Islam completely rejects the notion that Prophet Lot would offer his own daughters to the town’s people. The scholars of Islam explain that when Lot used the word “daughters” he meant the women of Sodom. He was demanding that the men of Sodom seek sexual fulfilment in lawful marriages.

In his book Stories of the Prophets, Ibn Kathir states that the town’s people broke down the door and rushed inside Lot’s house, surrounding the messengers. Lot was powerless before them yet he continued to plead and remind them of the evil of their ways. The town’s people jeered and mocked him saying, “Surely you know that we have neither any desire nor in need of your daughters, and indeed you know well what we want!” (Quran 11:79). The messengers reassured Lot by saying “surely we are messengers from your Lord.” (Qur’an 11:81) On hearing these words the towns people were afraid and started to disperse, leaving Lot and his family alone with the messengers (angels).

The messengers allayed the fears of Prophet Lot and instructed him to gather his family and leave the town of Sodom that night. Lot walked at the rear of his family to assure no one looked back on the towns of Sodom. Lot’s wife remained behind and was afflicted by the punishment along with the wrong doers and wicked townspeople. The Qur’an describes the punishment as an awful cry that turned the town upside down and rained stones of baked clay. (Qur’an 15:73-74)

The punishment came at sunrise, and God said,

“So We saved him and his family, all, except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. Then afterward We destroyed the others. And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.” (Quran 26:170-174)

Thus, the pages were closed on the people of Lot. Their names were erased from historical memory. The punishment that God promised, and Prophet Lot warned about, happened, for surely God keeps His promises. He promises severe punishment for the wrongdoers and Paradise is the reward of the righteous. Lot and his family walked into the sunrise and Quran mentions them no more.

Prophet Abraham peace be upon him left Egypt accompanied by his nephew Lut peace be upon him, who then went to the city of Sodom (Sadum), which was on the western shore of the Dead Sea.

This city was filled with evil. Its residents waylaid, robbed and killed travelers. Another common evil among them was that men had sex with men instead of with women. This unnatural act later became known as sodomy (after the city of Sodom). It was practiced openly and unashamedly.

It was at the height of these crimes and sins that Allah revealed to Prophet Lut peace be upon him that he should summon the people to give up their indecent behavior, but they were so deeply sunk in their immoral habits that they were deaf to Lot’s preaching. Swamped in their unnatural desires, they refused to listen, even when Lot warned them of Allah’s punishment. Instead, they threatened to drive him out of the city if he kept on preaching.

Allah the Almighty revealed:

“The people of Lot (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers when their brother Lot said to them, ‘Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism) my reward is only from the Lord of the ‘alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). Go you in unto the males of the ‘alamin (mankind), and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!’

“They said, ‘If you cease not, O Lot! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!’

“He said, ‘I am indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do.’

“So We saved him and his family, all except an old woman (this wife) among those who remained behind.” [Al-Qur’an 26:160-171]

The doings of Lot’s people saddened his heart. Their unwholesome reputation spread throughout the land, while he struggled against them. As the years passed, he persisted in his mission but to no avail. No one responded to his call and believed except for the members of his family, and even in his household, not all the members believed. Lot’s wife, like Noah’s wife, a disbeliever.

Allah the Almighty declared:

“Allah set forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands, by rejecting their doctrines) so they (Noah & Lut) benefited them (their respective wives) not, against Allah, and it was said, ‘Enter the Fire along with those who enter!’ ” [Al-Qur’an 66:10]

“If home is the place of comfort and rest, then Lut found none, for he was tormented both inside and outside his home. His life was continuous torture and he suffered greatly, but he remained patient and steadfast with his people. The years rolled by, and still not one believed in him. Instead, they belittled his message and mockingly challenged him, ‘Bring Allah’s Torment upon us if you are one of the truthful!’ ” [Al-Qur’an 29:29]

Overwhelmed with despair, Lot prayed to Allah to grant him victory and destroy the corrupt. Therefore, the angels left Abraham peace be upon him and headed for Sodom the town of Lut peace be upon him. They reached the walls of the town in the afternoon. The first person who caught sight of them was Lot’s daughter, who was sitting beside the river, filling her jug with water. When she lifted her face and saw them, she was stunned that there could be men of such magnificent beauty on earth.

One of the tree men (angels) asked her, “O maiden, is there a place to rest?”

Remembering the character of her people she replied, “Stay here and do not enter until I inform my father and return.” Leaving her jug by the river, she swiftly ran home.

“O father,” she cried, “you are wanted by young men at the town gate and I have never before seen the like of their faces!”

Lot felt distressed as he quickly ran to his guests. He asked them where they came from and where they were going.

They did not answer his questions. Instead they asked if he could host them. He started talking with them and impressed upon them the subject of his people’s nature. Lot was filled with turmoil; he wanted to convince his guests without offending them, not to spend the night there, yet at the same time he wanted to extend to them the expected hospitality normally accorded to guests. In vain he tried to make them understand the perilous situation. At last, therefore, he requested them to wait until the night fell, for then no one would see them.

When darkness fell on the town, Lot escorted his guest to his home. No one was aware of their presence. However, as soon as Lot’s wife saw them, she slipped out of the house quietly so that no one noticed her. Quickly, she ran to her people with the news and it spread to all the inhabitants like wildfire. The people rushed towards Lot quickly and excitedly. Lot was surprised by their discovery of his guests. and he wondered who could have informed them. The matter became clear, however, when he could not find his wife, anywhere, thus adding grief to his sorrow.

When Lot saw the mob approaching his house, he shut the door, but they kept on banging on it. He pleaded with them to leave the visitors alone and fear Allah’s punishment. He urged them to seek sexual fulfillment with their wives, for that is what Allah had made lawful.

Lot’s people waited until he had finished his short sermon, and then they roared with laughter. Blinded by passion, they broke down the door. Lot became very angry, but he stood powerless before these violent people. He was unable to prevent the abuse of his guests, but he firmly stood his ground and continued to plead with the mob.

At that terrible moment, he wished he had the power to push them away from his guests. Seeing him in a state of helplessness, and grief the guests said, “Do not be anxious or frightened, Lot for we are angels, and these people will not harm you.”

On hearing this, the mob was terrified and fled from Lot’s house, hurling threats at him as they left. The angels warned Prophet Lut peace be upon him to leave his house before sunrise, taking with him all his family except his wife.

Allah had decreed that the city of Sodom should perish. An earthquake rocked the town. It was as if a mighty power had lifted the entire city and flung it down in one jolt. A storm of stones rained on the city. Everyone and everything was destroyed, including Lot’s wife.

Allah the Almighty recounted this story:

“And tell them about the guests (angels) of Abraham. When they entered unto him, and said, ‘Salaman (peace)!’ Abraham said, ‘Indeed! We are afraid of you.’

“They (the angels) said, ‘Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom.’ (Abraham) said, ‘Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?’ They (the angels) said, ‘We give you glad tidings in truth. So be not of the despairing.’

“Abraham said, ‘And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?’ (Abraham again) said, ‘What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?’

“They (the angels) said, ‘We have been sent to a people who are mujrimin (criminals, disbelivers, polytheists, sinners). (All) except the family of Lot. Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction).’

“Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of the those who remain behind (she will be destroyed).

“Then when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lot, he said, ‘Verily! You are people unknown to me.’ They said, ‘Nay! we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered.’

“And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning.

“The inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men’s arrival). Lot said, ‘Verily! These are my guests, so shame me not. And fear Allah and disgrace me not.’ They (people of the city) said, ‘Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the ‘alamin (people, foreigners strangers etc) from us?’ Lot said, ‘These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters to marry lawfully if you must act so.’

“Verily, by your life (O Muhammad), in their wild intoxication they were wandering blindly. So as-salihah (torment, awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; and We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. Surely! In this are signs for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). And verily! They (the cities) are right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria, i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers.” [Al-Qur’an 15:51-77]

Allah the Exalted also declared:

“So we saved him and his family, all, except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. Then afterward We destroyed the others. We rained on them a rain of torment. How evil was the rain of those who had been warned. Verily, in this is indeed a sign yet most of them are not believers. Verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.” [Al-Qur’an 26:170-175]

The book was closed on the people of Lot peace be upon him. Their towns and names have been erased from the face of the earth. Gone are they from memory. One book was closed of the books of corruption.

Lot peace be upon him proceeded towards Abraham peace be upon him. He visited him, and when he recounted the story of his people, he was surprised to learn that Abraham peace be upon him already knew. So Lut peace be upon him continued to invite people to Allah, as did Abraham peace be upon him, the patient one who turned to Allah repentantly, and the two held firm to their mission

The importance of reminder….who cares?

Hadith Qudsi: The virtue of remembrance
Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Verily, Allah the Blessed and Exalted has caravans of angels who have no other work but to follow assemblies of remembrance. When they find such assemblies in which there is remembrance, they sit with them and some of them surround the others with their wings until the space between them and the heaven is covered. When they disperse, they ascend to the heaven and Allah the Exalted asks them – although he is best informed about them: From where have you come? They say: We came from Your servants on earth who were glorifying You, declaring Your greatness and oneness, praising You and asking from You.

Allah will say: What do they ask from Me? They say: They ask You for Your Paradise. Allah will say: Have they seen My Paradise? They say: No, our Lord. Allah will say: What if they were to see My Paradise? They say: They seek Your protection. Allah will say: From what do they seek My protection? They say: Our Lord, from the Hellfire. Allah will say: Have they seen My Hellfire?

They say: No. Allah will say: What if they were to see My Hellfire? They say: They ask for Your forgiveness. Allah will say: I will pardon them, give them what they ask, and grant them protection. They say: Our Lord, there is one among them, a simple servant who happened to pass by and sat there alongside them. Allah will say: I also grant him pardon , for whoever sits with these fellows will not suffer.

Hello 2015

Dear readers,

It’s been quite a long time since I have not communicated anything on my blog…

I think some time, we need to pause a little and do other things as fruitful as this one and come back with more spiritual experiences and thoughts.

Growing up from the heart and the spirit is very important if you want you stay sane in this life where confusion and superficiality are the order of the day…

I am sure that all of you want happiness, love, security and peace of mind…yet, you let yourself fooled by this life and this is the reason your heart is not at peace…

There is a way out…and this way is to ask yourself the correct question:

WHAT AM I DOING IN THIS LIFE?
WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING SINCE I WAS A GROWN-UP?
WHERE DO I WANT TO END …?

Believe me, it is hard to grow up, to want to change, to struggle with the self each day but the end result is productive

I wish you peace, happiness, love and positiveness in your life

If you feel like sharing your own experience, feel free…this is your blog too 🙂
