What happens if Eid falls on a Friday? What about Jummah prayer?

Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Rahim

Many Muslims are getting confused and want to know whether they need to perform Friday prayer even though they have attended Eid prayer?

IN FACT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON BETWEEN JUMMAH PRAYER AND EID PRAYER

Jummah prayer replaces the Zohr daily prayer every Friday and this is an obligation upon the Ummah as it is a clear verse from the Glorious Qur’an

O Muslims, do not neglect the Qur’an and start taking scholars as your Supreme Book

Indeed Allah says in Surah Al Jum’ah verse 9:

“O ye who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly), hasten earnestly to the Remembrance of Allah, and leave off business (and traffic): That is best for you if ye but knew…” 62:9

Jum’ah salah is an obligatory act. Performing Eid salah cannot replace Jummah prayer.

You will better understand this, insha Allah, if you take Eid to be any other day except Friday. Do you stop doing Zohr? No. Why? Because Zohr prayer has nothing to do with Eid prayer.

Eid prayer is performed after the sun rises. It can be performed [in Mauritius] as from 7 o’clock in the morning and should not be too late, so that people can still go back home and prepare themselves for Zohr prayer or Jum’ah prayer.

Zohr prayer and Jum’ah prayer are performed after noon. That is, after the sun has left the zawwal.

Imam Ibn Hazam rahimahullah in his book al-Muhallaa said: “And if Eid and Falls on Friday, one should pray Eid first and then Jumu’ah. This is a must, and there is no reliable evidence to prove otherwise”. He then said: “Jumu’ah is Fard and Eid is supererogatory, and the supererogatory act does not override the Fard.”

The Book of Allah is a miracle and a supreme truth.

“Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it” [Quran 41:42]

Further, in surah 41:33:

“And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, “Indeed, I am of the Muslims.

“Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray – for him there is no guide.” Surah 39:23

This is the Quran, the Word of Allah that has been challenging humankind and proving its inability to produce something to its effect as to its eloquence, wise judgments, and authentic news. The Quran will remain the everlasting Argument of Allah The Almighty against all opponents, disbelievers or anyone who ignorantly tries to argue with the Speech of Allah.

Allah’s Word is above all speeches. What Allah has said in the Qur’an cannot be changed.

Note that the prophet [pbuh] was divinely appointed to spread the Word of Allah to mankind, not to argue with it, not to contradict it.

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullaah, may Allah be pleased with them, said: “Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a Khutbah (i.e. sermon), his eyes would become red, his tone loud and he showed anger as if he were warning us against an army. He, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: ” The best of speech is the Book of Allah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of things are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation is a going astray…”

so, please do not fall into the rulings of certain scholars who think they can overrule a verse of the Qur’an

May Allah forgive us, guide us and be pleased with us
